Sometimes those chintzy little iPod dock speakers just won’t do the trick when it comes to bringing your record collection with you. That’s when you might want to roll out the Yamaha NX-A01 One Box Cubic Stereo Speaker. Packed with what Yamaha calls SR-Bass (Swing Radiator Bass), the 3.25 square-inch-sized NX-A01 features stereo mini jack inputs and weighs just seven pounds.

The only major downside with the NX-A01 is that it doesn’t take batteries and won’t run via USB, you’ll have to carry that hated power adapter brick around with you. But, for just $99, the speaker offers a healthy dose of style points on the (relatively) cheap.

The Bamboo Speaker is a slick little concept design that uses bamboo as an inspiration for its shape. The unique design apparently uses the “natural acoustics of cylindrical objects” to enhance the sound, which may or may not actually do anything.

In addition, it’s got detachable, wireless speakers and a base station with a subwoofer, a CD player, line-in for hooking up MP3 players, and “remote desktop syncing,” which sounds like a nice touch. Unfortunately for you, it’s just a concept, so it won’t be hitting stores anytime soon, but with a little like you’ll be enjoying your music in cylindrically-enhanced ways before too long.

Just when we thought we couldn’t stand to look at another iPod dock, here comes the Moderna from Phiaton. We have to admit the design is pretty cool on this one, with nice sleek lines and those tubes on the sides that look more like engines than speakers. The 5-pound speaker is rated at 50 watts — pretty decent for the class (though it’s no Zeppelin).

Phiaton plans to release the Moderna, along with a few pairs of horribly colored headphones by spring, though company reps were shifty when pressed on pricing. But if it’s expensive, it has to be good, right?

There’s a national holiday coming up this Sunday, the day where over 100 million people in America worship football by watching Super Bowl XLII. You might be among the 2.4 million people (according to the Consumer Electronics Association) who will succumb this year to temptation and upgrade that old clunker with a shiny new HDTV. Good luck with that.

No luck needed, though, because we’ve got you covered. After taking a close look at lots of HDTVs, we’ll explain the differences between LCDs, plasma screens, front and rear projectors, and then we’ll even pick our favorite in each category. If you need some help to throw the best Super Bowl party ever, click Continue to find the best HDTV for you.

I’ve seen some crazy things in my time (a mirror for instance) but none so crazy and yet intuitive sounding as this 57in waterproof HD LCD TV from Aquavision. Getting over the initial impression that whoever thought this up may be slightly potty, the attraction of having a TV to watch while whiling away half an hour or so in the tub shines through – and the AVF 57-4LCD does it with a fair bit of panache too.

For a start when turned off, the TV doubles up as a handy mirror which is a nice touch if you ask me. Moving onto more conventional specs, the set offers a Full HD, 57in 1,920 x 1,080 panel, digital and analogue tuners and, importantly, a waterproof remote control to take into the tub with you.
