15.philips-remote.jpgPhilips has announced that it’s extending its range of Prestigo premium universal remote controls with the launch of the new SRU8015.

Philips claims that the development of the new Prestigo focused on ease-of-use, with channel icons now displayed to give easy access to your favourite programmes. It also has the ability to control up to 15 home entertainment devices (from a choice of 25 categories); a 2”, 176 x 220 full-colour LCD screen; a rotary wheel; and white key backlighting for intuitive navigation.

Also worth a mention are an on-screen set-up wizard that Philips claims allows you to use the universal remote immediately without a PC or complex instruction manual; and a FAV (for favourites) button which immediately directs users to a screen where up to 100 preferred channel icons can be selected (from a total choice of 400), allowing users to simply select favourite programmes by icon rather than needing to remember digit keys.

The SRU8015 universal remote allegedly supports almost any product, and can learn codes of new remotes simply by pointing the handset and the device or existing remote control at each other. The remote is available now for around £99.99.
