High end audio manufacturer, Pink Faun, is in the process of finalizing the details on its new high-end loudspeaker called the Euphrosyne. The designers at Pink Faun only had one goal in mind for the Euphrosyne, to design a loudspeaker system to reproduce music a accurately as possible; and as a testament to their hard work many in the Netherlands have already adopted the Euphrosyne prototype as a reference.

The Euphrosyne features two 12” Altec bass drivers that are crossed over at 500Hz, and an Altec compression driver for the horn along with a Fostec T90A super-tweeter. The speaker is extremely efficient with the horn and tweeter requiring little power, while the bass drivers can be driven with 40 watts to achieve up to 120dB. Since it is still in the development stage, specific details on the Euphrosyne are scarce, but we will keep you posted of any further developments.

Words from Pink Faun

The Euphrosyne is the top model of the Pink Faun speakers. It will be a 101 dB overal sensitivity d’Appolito system with two Altec 12" 414 98dB 16 ohm bass drivers and a Altec compression driver in 50 cm front horn. Cutoff frequency is 500 Hz. The compression driver is modified to go down this deep, and up to 20 kHz, with very much linearity. A Fostec T90A supertweeter will be added filtered from 20 kHz, just to add some space and speed in the most upper regions. All drivers have Alnico magnets. This speaker is very detailed and dynamic, words just can’t tell… The prototype already has become a reference to a lot of people in the Netherlands.

The speaker will use an active crossover. Only a very few watts are needed for the horn, bas can be driven with a 40W amplifier for almost undistorted concert level output (upto 120 dB without problems). This system also is very suitable for large listening rooms and studio monitoring.
