Goldmund has announced two new innovations to further improve its amazing Media Room. The first is a new version of the Logos 3 infrasonic subwoofer, called the 3F. The new Logos 3F has been scaled down to 12″ to allow it to be concealed inside interior walls and not compromise the aesthetic design of the Media Room, without sacrificing sound quality or the 7Hz – 17Hz frequency response of the much larger old model. A new two chamber cabinet design provides accurate output at all frequencies up to 130dB.

The second innovation is a new USB processor which expands channel capacity from 32 to up to 128 channels. Goldmund has also eliminated the noise and clocking issues caused by conventional USB inputs with a new USB input design that electrically isolates the computer and synchronizes it with a high precision internal clock for greatly improved dynamics and reduced noise.

Want extra bass in your system, but without having to house a massive subwoofer?
These tiny tots from Sunfire, designed by US amplifier specialist Bob Carver, pack a mighty punch from a small box.
There are three new models in the range: the HRS8 (£650); HRS10 (£799); and the HRS12 (£899).
All three are single-driver designs, with a 1000w Class A/B amplifier. They range in size from a 9.75in cube for the HRS8, 11.5in for the HRS10 and 13.5in for the HRS12.
“The output of these tiny subwoofers is significantly more than any comparably-sized products, so consumers can enjoy deep, realistic bass without the large boxes associated with performance subwoofers,” the company claims.

The Bamboo Speaker is a slick little concept design that uses bamboo as an inspiration for its shape. The unique design apparently uses the “natural acoustics of cylindrical objects” to enhance the sound, which may or may not actually do anything.
In addition, it’s got detachable, wireless speakers and a base station with a subwoofer, a CD player, line-in for hooking up MP3 players, and “remote desktop syncing,” which sounds like a nice touch. Unfortunately for you, it’s just a concept, so it won’t be hitting stores anytime soon, but with a little like you’ll be enjoying your music in cylindrically-enhanced ways before too long.

Though it is mostly known for speakers, Jamo also has a small presence in electronics. One of their new products in this category is the DMR 45 digital media receiver. The DMR 45 includes support for a wide variety of sources, including DVDs, CDs, MP3, WMA/MPEG-4, DivX Ultra, Xvid, and portable audio devices via a USB port on the front panel. Designed for those who would prefer to use two speakers rather than five, the DMR 45 includes only a 75 watt per channel stereo amplifier, with a preamp output for a subwoofer.

Looking very unlike existing NAD products, this is the company’s new Viso Five, an all-in-one DVD/CD receiver.
Due to launch in February and sell for £900, it can deliver video images upscaled to 720p or 1080i via HDMI, and accepts optional modules for DAB digital radio or, in the States, XM digital satellite radio.
The unit handles all the current DVD-based surround formats, including 24-bit/96kHz DVD-Audio, and also offers NAD’s proprietary Enhanced Ambience Retrieval System (conveniently spelling EARS!) to create surround from stereo sources.

Everyone’s talking about China these days. The impact of the world’s fastest ever growing economy on the western world is huge – and it now extends to the world of iPod docks, in the form of the BooM China system from TwinMOS.
And yes, that thing that looks like a vase is actually a subwoofer…
The BooM China has been designed in collaboration with a traditional Chinese artist, and is released to coincide with the Chinese new year – as well as to celebrate China hosting the 2008 Olympic games.

Energy speakers has released a new model in their popular series of “Take” compact home theater speaker packages, called the Take Classic.
