NextAid Unites With eMusic To Offer Free Downloadable Music, Donation For Charity

Allan Ford June 5, 2007

06.nextaid.jpgNextAid, an organization dedicated to improving the lives of African
children orphaned as a result of AIDS, has launched a new affiliate
partnership with eMusic, the #1 independent music site, offering music
lovers around the globe the chance to download songs for free, while
benefiting a worthy cause. In this on-going promotion, eMusic is
donating to NextAid $8 for every person who signs up for a free trial
account at www.emusic.com/nextaid. Once registered, users can select up
to 50 songs from eMusic’s impressive library of over two million
tracks, to download free of charge within a two week period. Songs can
be transferred to any MP3 player or iPod.

By taking
part in the free song promotion, users benefit NextAid’s flagship
project, the building of an environmentally friendly residential
village for orphans in the rural town of Dennilton, South Africa,
located two hours northeast of Johannesburg. Since the ground breaking
in July 2005, a team of ecological architects and experienced natural
builders have constructed five buildings and supporting structures,
including a performance space, composting toilets, outdoor
energy-efficient kitchen and seating area, two earth-bag offices, and a
straw bale children’s house. The multi-purpose center serves as a safe
home for 50 children orphaned by AIDS and a living laboratory of best
practices for future projects throughout Africa.

“Most of us have a passion for music and believe in its power to unite
us. This promotion allows us to reach out to those looking to make a
mark in a socially-conscious way – whether it is environmental,
economic, or humanitarian, giving back to their global community,” said
Lauren Segal, Co-founder of NextAid.

eMusic’s growing collection of songs include the latest and
hard-to-find hits from every musical genre such as rock, classical,
reggae, hip hop, country, world, and electronic dance music, including
today’s hottest DJs and NextAid’s supporting artists.

NextAid has its own eMusic multi-playlist hub, featuring regularly
updated music selections from artists and labels that support NextAid,
playlists selected by NextAid and its supporters. The impressive list
of industry leaders who support NextAid includes Louie Vega, DJ Dan,
Miguel Migs, Remix, URB, and BPM magazines, OM Records, Ableton, and
the world famous club Cielo in NYC.

NextAid, a Los Angeles-based humanitarian organization, is committed to
developing and implementing innovative sustainable solutions to the
challenges facing African children affected by AIDS. Through
cooperative grassroots and local community-driven programs that
positively impact the lives of African children, NextAid’s mission is
to advocate long lasting environmentally, economically and socially
empowering responses to the AIDS orphan pandemic. NextAid collaborates
with individuals, businesses and non-profits to produce culturally-rich
awareness-raising projects and events involving music, art, technology,
community building, and public education.
