Boston Acoustics launches in-ceiling ‘one-point stereo’ speaker

Allan Ford July 5, 2007

Boston Acoustics is launching a new ‘one-point’ stereo in-ceiling speaker with 2 tweeters and a dual voice coil woofer.

As this description suggests, the £159 DSi455T2 delivers stereo hi-fi sound from a single speaker, potentially also offering, say, home cinema rear and side speakers in just one unit. And with a mounting depth of just 108mm, it should fit easily into most British ceilings.

05.boston_acoustics-1.jpgInside the DSi455T2 can be found a powerful 6-inch dual voice coil DCD woofer, plus two 1-inch Kortec silk dome tweeters mounted on a floating tweeter island, with the whole array capable of high power handling and high sensitivity.

Other key DSi455T2 features include:
* Voicing for small rooms and hallways
* 6-inch driver in the cut-out of a 51⁄4-inch
* White finish with paintable surround
* Frequency response: 75Hz-20kHz
* Power Handling: 10-70 watts
* Impedance: 8 ohms
* Sensitivity: 92dB
* External size: 205mm diameter
* Cut-out diameter: 171mm
* Depth: 108mm
