With a humble set of attributes, Hitachi’s latest USB stick DAP is intended for the lower end of the price scale. The HMP-X5 comes with 2GB of internal flash memory, and a very short list of supported formats: MP3, WMA (DRM), and WAV. However, the battery holds up 16 hours of music playback and 140 hours of voice recording. Seven equalizer presets are also supplied and the screen can display four lines of text.
The HMP-X5 features a slender design, which measures 1.5" x 0.5" x 3.3", and has a weight of only 1.3 ounces. Presenting the same black and white color choice as many other players it will be available in Japan for an open retail price on July 12th.
