Audio Pro to unleash range of leather speakers

Allan Ford August 21, 2007

22.m1-brown.jpg22 August 2007 – Innovative Swedish speaker brand Audio Pro has launched a new range of speakers upholstered in real leather.

The hide around the compact, slim profile Mondial range comes in a choice of black or brown hide apparently stitched and finished to a standard reminiscent of high quality leather goods.

The idea is that Mondial’s leather has a character more in keeping with softer furnishings and rich, organic interiors.

Claiming to use high-performance drivers, including the latest super tweeters, the Mondial series comprises five speaker pairs, ranging from the ultra-compact M1 (which includes a wall bracket) to the slim floor-standing M5. Plus there’s the M4 centre-channel speaker and two active AceBass subwoofers 22.m5-brown.jpg(also in leather) to provide a multichannel leather option for home cinema fans.

At only 16cm high and 11cm wide, the super-compact M1 monitor is easy to place in a room, but Audio Pro claims it turns in a convincing performance when combined with a S1 active subwoofer in a full range sound system.

Utilising a powerful 4.5” bass driver and 1” super tweeter, the slightly larger M2 monitor is designed to produce an up-scaled sound as part of a standalone stereo system or, when in combination with the Mondial M4 centre channel speaker and S1 or S3 subwoofers, a potent multi-channel home theatre system.

The M3 monitor’s leather-bound cabinet houses a 1” silk dome super tweeter and 5.25” Polyglass bass driver for a wide frequency response and high power handling.

The M5 floorstand loudspeaker, meanwhile, features a multi-driver array allowing the 1” super tweeter and dual 3.5” mid-bass drivers to be positioned at the optimal listening height. With a cabinet width of only 11cm, the M5 looks slender, but its heavy metal base ensures stability.

The M4 centre channel speaker completes the front soundstage of a Mondial multi-channel system using a driver array which is identical to the M5’s and which is tonally matched to all other Mondial speakers. Shielded drivers allow the M4 to be positioned directly above or below the screen.

The S1 subwoofer is Audio Pro’s smallest ever active subwoofer with a cabinet only 25cm square. Its long throw 6.5” bass driver is combined with a 175” ace-bass power amplifier to allow the S1 to extend down to 30Hz. The slightly larger (30cm square) Sub 3 utilises an 8” driver and 200W ace-bass power amplifier. With greater cabinet volume and available power, the S3 can reproduce frequencies down to 27Hz.

Guide retail prices: M1 £149(pr), M2 £199(pr), M3 £249(pr), M4 £139(ea), M5 £399(pr), S1 £249(ea), S3 £319(ea). Suggested 5.1 channel system: M5, M4, M1, S3 = £999.00

The speakers are available from September, and for more information you should visit www.csesolutions.co.uk, or call 01423 359054.
