Onkyo TX-SR605 7.1-channel AV receiver named best of year by EISA committee

Allan Ford August 23, 2007

24.onkyo_logo.jpg24 August 2007 – Onkyo’s new mid-range TX-SR605 7.1-channel AV receiver, retailing at around £400, has been voted the best home theatre receiver of the year by the EISA committee of European consumer electronics magazine editors.

The receiver is the "world’s first" to incorporate on-board decoding of next-gen HD audio formats, which is why it was singled out to win the award.

The judging panel said: “Onkyo’s TX-SR605 is a very talented performer. It’s the first AV Receiver to include HDMI 1.3, and offer decoding of new sound formats such as DTS-HD and Dolby True HD. But it’s also a powerful home cinema amplifier that provides a true 7.1-channel output, compatibility with 1080p and Deep Color (xvYCC) video signals, as well as Faroudja de-interlacing. The built-in Audyssey 2EQ enables swift and easy automatic calibration in any room, but what’s really amazing is the extremely competitive price. The Onkyo is a superb future-proof buy for the true enthusiast and the more cost-conscious consumer alike.”
