New Samsung YP-P2 streams Bluetooth for a crowd

Allan Ford August 28, 2007

28 August 2007 – Samsung YP-P2 and YP-T10 players offer stereo Bluetooth in an ultra-slim package.

Samsung has announced two new audio players, foremost of which is the YP-P2 player. The YP-P2 is slim and sleek, and features an all-touch interface. The P2 features a wide, 16:9 aspect ratio 3-inch screen, and can play videos as well as music. The player will be available in 4GB and 8GB capacities in three colors. The new YP-T10 (check out our image gallery here) packs a smaller screen in a smaller shell, and uses touch-sensitive buttons instead of an all-touch interface, but is capable of music and video nonetheless. The YP-T10 will have 4GB of memory and will come in three colors as well.

Samsung has a few cool tricks up its sleeve for the new players. Both players use Bluetooth 2.0 for wireless stereo playback, and can stream to more than one set of cans. The T10 and P2 can play for an audience of two or three people respectively. Additionally, the new players will detect incoming calls from cell phones, and will pause the music while you take a call. The latter feature will not be available at launch, but will come in a firmware update some time before winter.

The players will be available in September. Pricing has yet to be determined.
