Pioneer Launches New Headphones

Allan Ford October 9, 2007

The Pioneer Japan website is currently showing five new headphones.

SE-CL21U SE-CL21M SE-CL21W: From the translated descriptions, these headphones all appear to be exactly the same except for the exterior styling. They all use 9mm neodymium magnets in the drivers and come with a multitude of different size rubber tips. Each pair costs about $20 (2,381 Yen).

SE-CLX7: These are an armature type stereo headphone that uses a 3-Dimensional form fitting system of interchangeable parts to get a perfect fit. The perfect fit is essential to seal off the ear canal and attain the best sound possible, as well as providing isolation from outside noise. The SE-CLX7’s cost about $102 (11,905 Yen).

SE-CLX9: These are the cream of the crop as far as the new Pioneer headphones go. The SE-CLX9’s are tunable using interchangeable nozzles (pictured above), very similar in concept to the Sleek Audio SA6’s. These headphones are also 3-Dimensional form fitting just like the SE-CLX7’s above, and have an aluminum housing. The SE-CLX9’s cost about $180 (20,953 Yen).
You can see the graphs below that show the different frequency responses for "high tune" and "bass tune" nozzles.
