1080p, 32in LCD TVs are all well and good, but what if you’re a gamer and you want said spec of TV in a form specially designed for you and your ilk? Ponder no more because Sharp has the solution, the AQUOS LC-32GP3U gaming TV, apparently the second iteration of the company’s range of gaming-orientated sets.
Specs wise the LC-32GP3U doesn’t fare too badly: the aforementioned 1,920 x 1,080 panel claims a 10,000:1 contrast ratio, unsurprisingly achieved through a dynamic backlight, while dual HDMI 1.3 ports lead to Deep Colour support. The gaming credentials come from the preset game mode; first Vyper Drive tones down the signal processing to increase response time and is activated by a button on the remote which also switches to the user specified console input port.
The LC-3GP3U will come not only in black, but also red and white, so you can match sets with your game console of choice. Pricing is only available in US Dollars at the moment, of which the TV will cost $1,600 – this will probably translate to around £900 in the UK after VAT and because-we’re-British tax. Assuming the contrast ratio claims are actually realistic (even with dynamic backlighting) the LC-3GP3U shouldn’t prove that poor value for money, and if you want to but into the input lag hype there aren’t many rival products.
