Definitive is the latest speaker company to hop on the single speaker “surround bar” bandwagon with their SSA50 L/C/R sound bar, the newest and flat panel friendliest of their popular Mythos range. The SSA50 houses a total of nine drivers inside its 46” wide aluminum frame, and utilizes some psychoacoustic trickery in the form of surround channel filtering and phase shifting of the left and right channels in order to enhance the “virtual surround” experience. The SSA50 was launched at CES, and is expected to go on sale in February at a price of $1,099.
