Aquavision AVF 57-4LCD Waterproof TV Unveiled

Allan Ford February 1, 2008

I’ve seen some crazy things in my time (a mirror for instance) but none so crazy and yet intuitive sounding as this 57in waterproof HD LCD TV from Aquavision. Getting over the initial impression that whoever thought this up may be slightly potty, the attraction of having a TV to watch while whiling away half an hour or so in the tub shines through – and the AVF 57-4LCD does it with a fair bit of panache too.

For a start when turned off, the TV doubles up as a handy mirror which is a nice touch if you ask me. Moving onto more conventional specs, the set offers a Full HD, 57in 1,920 x 1,080 panel, digital and analogue tuners and, importantly, a waterproof remote control to take into the tub with you.

Also on hand are dual HDMI ports for your special waterproof edition PS3 and Xbox – because who doesn’t have those? The set is also cited as being intended for an in-wall installation, explaining to my mind how it acquires its waterproof credentials. Other than that knowledge there’s no real info forthcoming from the company, so you’ll have to wait until the Aquavision’s website gets an update.

Pricing and availability are unknown for now, but don’t expect it to be cheap. Add to that the cost of installing the thing and you’ve got a pricey set up on your hands. Of course anyone who can ascertain the real-world value of being able to relax in a hot bowl of water while enjoying Heroes in HD is clearly working some Deep Magic.
