D-Link’s PC-on-TV Player

Now here’s a device that will interest both television enthusiasts and computer lovers. D-Link Systems Inc. has released the PC-on-TV Player which provides a complete PC experience to the television.

The new media player latches on to the internet and accesses web-based content, such as YouTube videos, Google Video, Veoh Networks’ content and more, and all of these can be checked from the PCs via web pages. The smart device connects to the TV with a VGA, component or included composite cables and then connects via Wi-Fi to a computer on the home network. The PC-on-TV Player packs in a trackball remote control that provides a complete television experience.

“The D-Link PC-on-TV is an elegant solution for extending the PC experience to a TV in the other room,” said Chris Wong, director of product management, multimedia for D-Link Systems Inc. “We’ve developed a simple way for our customers to leverage their big screen TV for accessing and enjoying applications traditionally reserved for the computer. Users can now share virtually any movie, song or Internet video with others from the comfort of their family room, with only the click of a few buttons.”

The D-Link PC-on-TV Player also allows users to play games on the television screens using internet as a medium of connection. The D-Link PC-on-TV Player (DPG-1200) is now up for sale from D-Link’s chain of retail outlets, value-added resellers, distributors and through the online site www.dlinkshop.com. The suggested retail price of this new-age device is set as $239.99 USD.
