Yamaha targets the old generation with its latest SACD’s and Amps

Allan Ford October 11, 2007

This is not a mystery, but older people (generally) have more money to spend than the young, so in order to make sure to get more money from products, manufacturers are now targeting products to this new eldorado; like Yamaha, for example, who decided today to unveil a set of an high-end SACD players and its Pre-amp, the CD-S2000 and A-S2000 (Honda will be pleased with these S2000 based names), which will cost around 2300 euros.
Well of course, for this price, and since we are targeting “picky” customers, Yamaha took the best components in order to make sure that no one will get upset… Like a PCM-1792 DAC from TI (Texas Instruments), as well the support of both MP3 and WMA, and for the Pre-Amp we have a 2x190W at 4Ω.

Now the funny fact on these 2 new products is their weight, which will give you a total of 38kg… Well, funny may not be the correct word, but "ouch", 15kg for just a SACD player… lord that’s heavy !
