Polk Audio RTi 2008 Series Speakers

Allan Ford November 13, 2007

The latest range from one of the world’s most ubiquitous speaker companies, Polk Audio, is the RTi 2008 series. The three-model RTi 2008 series updates the original RTi designs with new cabinets built using Polk’s “Damped Asymmetric Hex Laminate Isolation (DAHLI)” curved sidewall construction system for a more rigid enclosure with less resonance.

The RTi A5 ($949.90/pr) is the smallest model of the range, standing 40.25” tall. It uses two 6.5” “Dynamic Balance” Polymer/Mica Composite midranges augmented by two ports tuned for midrange and bass frequencies, and a 1” Silk Polymer tweeter. The step-up RTi A7 ($1149.90/pr) stands 42.25” tall and uses two 7” Polymer Composite woofers with front and rear bass ports, a single 6.5” Dynamic Balance midrange driver with a midrange port, and a 1” Silk Polymer tweeter. The top-of-the-range RTi A9 ($1749.90/pr) stands 48-5/8” tall, and uses three 7” Polymer Composite woofers and two 5.25” Dynamic Balance midranges with the same port system as the RTi A7, and a single 1” Silk Polymer tweeter mounted between the midranges in a D’Appolito configuration. All three models are available in either cherry or black wood veneer.
